Megan earned her Master’s Degree from Lipscomb University in psychology and holds a license in substance abuse counseling. She is a certified clinical trauma professional and utilizes modalities such as EMDR, IFS, psychodrama and experiential therapy.
Her outdoor career began as a NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) student, spending 3 months in the backcountry, learning Leave-No-Trace techniques, studying topography, hydrology and risk management in a wilderness setting. After her NOLS semester, she became a horse packer for NOLS, and then worked many different contracts around the United States, leading at-risk youth on multi-day backpacking, river expedition and horse camping trips. As an experienced administrator, certified equine, wilderness and adventure therapist, Megan brings a unique skillset to the Onsite Adventures program. Blending her extensive time spent as an outdoor educator and backcountry guide with her experience as a therapist, Megan is able to craft distinct outdoor experiences that are curtailed to client needs. These adventures involve smaller groups of clients, preserving the quiet sanctuary of the surrounding natural environment and offering time and space for clients to disconnect from the noise of society, and reconnect to the peacefulness of nature and themselves. She believes God created nature and horses for us to experience so that we may deepen our faith and understanding of the creator and ourselves. This belief drives her to utilize equine and nature-based therapy in all she does.
